Work in the Urban Wild

in Phil Hardberger Park

Administrative & Development Coordinator

Join us in connecting people to nature in the heart of San Antonio. The Phil Hardberger Park Conservancy is seeking a mission-driven, detail-oriented Administrative & Development Coordinator to support our day-to-day operations and help advance our work preserving, enhancing, and activating Phil Hardberger Park.

You'll play a vital role supporting our Board of Directors, stewarding donors and members, and assisting with programs and events that connect people to nature.

What We're Looking For

You're organized, detail-oriented, and a clear communicator, written and verbal. You're someone people can count on, professional, reliable, easy to work with. You're just as comfortable talking with a board member as you are a vendor or a volunteer, and you bring a warm, service-oriented touch to it all. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with some comfort in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace. If you've worked with a CRM or spent time in the nonprofit world, that's a plus. Most of all, we're looking for someone who genuinely cares about parks, conservation, and the community around them.

Schedule & Compensation

This is a non-exempt position, approximately 35 hours a week, at $22 an hour.

You'll get a SIMPLE IRA with an organization match from day one, generous PTO, free coffee and snacks, a Conservancy t-shirt, and an office that's a 330-acre nature preserve.

What You'll Do

You'll help plan our events from start to finish, lining up vendors, keeping RSVP lists in order, and being there on-site when the day comes. On the donor side, you'll send out thank-yous, check in on membership renewals, and keep our records up to date.

Day to day, you'll handle the basics that keep an office running: ordering supplies, filing paperwork, answering questions, the stuff that doesn't always get noticed but always needs doing.

You'll also be our Board's go-to person, setting up meetings, pulling together agendas, writing up minutes afterward, and keeping our board records in order.

And when someone wants to rent one of our spaces, you're who they'll talk to. You'll manage the calendar, walk renters through our guidelines, handle the paperwork and deposits, and make sure maintenance has the space ready before and after.

Interpretive Urban Ecology Educator

What We’re Looking For

You need to know your way around the natural world, feel comfortable leading groups outdoors, and genuinely enjoy sharing what you know.

Experience with K–12 education is a plus. So is Spanish. A Texas Driver's License is helpful. Most of all, we're looking for someone who shows up curious and makes other people feel that way too.

What You’ll Do

Most days, you'll be outside. Leading a school group down a trail. Helping a kid spot something they've never noticed before. Staffing an outreach table at a community event. Answering questions from a curious visitor who just wandered in.

You'll lead field trips and guided hikes for groups of 10–20, walking 2–5 miles of park trails. You'll facilitate hands-on lessons, prepare spaces and materials, and help keep programs running smoothly.

Schedule & Compensation

Weekday mornings are the core of this role — typically 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday availability preferred. Some evenings and weekends are available too. Maximum 20 hours per week. Pay is $20/hour.

The position runs through Summer 2026 and may extend into 2027.
