Join us for a Night Hike at Phil Hardberger Park - Natural Area, and bring a friend!
Meet before 7:30 pm at the Urban Ecology Center building, located at 8400 NW Military Road. This is a slow paced but sustained two hour hike. We'll walk through the park to discover the nocturnal sights and sounds of nature at the park. Staff and volunteers will lead the group through the Wildscape Demonstration Garden, Savanna Restoration Area and Oak Loop Trail to see what we can find. We'll utilize black lights to look for scorpions, and have a moth trap at the start/finish area to see what lurks in the night.
This hike covers a variety of walking path and will take up to two hours to walk, though may finish sooner based on the group. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable closed toed shoes, dress for the weather, and bring water to stay hydrated. This program is intended for adults and teens who can travel 2+ miles of moderate leveled walking on both paved and natural trails. To respect everyone's time, the group will start promptly at 7:30pm.
