4th Saturday Nature Walk: Ethnobotany

  • PHP Urban Ecology Center Classroom 8400 NW Military Hwy San Antonio United States (map)

Join us for an in-person nature walk led by Josie Gonzales, a Certified Interpretive Guide and Texas Master Naturalist, to learn about Ethnobotany. Josie will identify native plants in the park and discuss how people of a particular culture and region made use of them. Plants sustain people not only as food and medicine, but provide materials, dyes, tannis, wax, latex, soap, resin and oils. This talk is part of our monthly 4th Saturday Nature Walk series provided by our Alamo Area Master Naturalists and the Alamo Group of the Sierra Club, with the Native Plant Society of Texas, San Antonio.

Note: Please wear closed-toed shoes, dress for the weather, and bring some water to drink! Restrooms are available near the parking lot.
