Join Cleveland Powell and Don Kirchoff, of the Native Prairies Association of Texas, as they talk about savanna ecosystems, and the processes that maintain them.
Master Naturalist Brent Wiles will lead this program about the amazing migration of the Monarch. Kid-friendly activity included.
Hear a brief introduction on area grasses and their importance followed by a walk, mainly around the savanna and adjacent areas, focusing on grass identification led by plant taxonomist Floyd Waller.
Patty Leslie Pasztor master naturalist and author will lead us in identifying butterflies and nectar-producing plants in the park.
Discover Phil Hardberger Park’s Dairy Farm past at this annual event. There will be cow milking demonstrations from the SW Dairy Farmers, youth craft activities, and tours of the Butterfly Learning Center and Children’s Vegetable Garden.
Hear a brief introductory classroom talk on local wildlife including photos of wildlife common to the park, followed by a walk further explaining wildlife and its relationship to the local ecosystem led by Christine Westerman.
