Weed Wednesday Warriors
Do you love getting your hands dirty? Do you learn best by doing? Do you want to make a difference in Phil Hardberger Park? Join the Weed Warriors as they work beside our park staff to beautify the park. WW's sometimes remove non-native plants, plant native plants, remove trash, and build and repair trails. The group meets every Wednesday plus the first Saturday of most months. It focuses on a different section of the park, depending on what is needed.
May 9th - Attention, Tentative! We are expecting a large shipment of milkweed from the organization called Monarch Watch. Hierba de Zizotes is a native milkweed (Go Monarchs!) and we’ll be planting it around the Urban Ecology Center and Savanna trails. We would love for you to help us help monarchs! Let’s meet near the parking lot in front of the Urban Ecology Center.
Gloves, trash, bags, tools and insect spray are provided. Volunteers may prefer to bring their own gloves and should bring their own water. Eye protection (sunglasses are fine), bug spray, long pants and closed-toe shoes are recommended. For more information call (210) 207-3284 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
