Weekend Weed Warriors: Working in the Wetland
Do you love getting your hands dirty? Do you learn best by doing? Do you want to make a difference in Phil Hardberger Park? Join the Weed Warriors as they work beside our park staff to beautify the park. WW's sometimes remove non-native plants, plant native plants, remove trash, and build and repair trails. The group meets every Wednesday plus the first Saturday of most months. It focuses on a different section of the park, depending on what is needed.
June 3rd, meet at 9 a.m., by the basket ball courts in PHP West (8400 NW Military Hwy). The group will head to the wetland to dig the ponds deeper, add landscaping, place landscaping stones and weed the current beds. The pond may be dry or muddy. The project is weather dependent. Please register and provide best contact information.
To assure that there are enough volunteers to complete the WWW project, registration is required. If fewer than 6 people sign up, the work day will be canceled. Register through this website. Gloves, trash bags, tools and insect spray are provided. Volunteers may prefer to bring their own gloves and should bring their own water. Eye protection (sunglasses are fine), bug spray, long pants and closed-toe shoes are recommended. For more information call (210) 207-3292 or e-mail Wendy.Leonard@sanantonio.gov.
