Weekend Weed Warriors
Do you love getting your hands dirty? Do you learn best by doing? Do you want to make a difference in Phil Hardberger Park? Join the Weed Warriors as they work beside our park staff to beautify the park. WW's sometimes remove non-native plants, plant native plants, remove trash, and build and repair trails. The group meets every Wednesday plus the first Saturday of most months. It focuses on a different section of the park, depending on what is needed.
May 6th, meet at 9 a.m., at the Salado Creek Greenway trailhead parking lot (1021 Voelcker Lane). It will be a real ranch workday as volunteers spruce up the old farm! Help is needed to demolish an old chicken coup, clear mesquite and plant a rose bed. There's plenty of work to go around, so bring a friend.
To assure that there are enough volunteers to complete the WWW project, registration is required. If fewer than 6 people sign up, the work day will be canceled. Register through this website. Gloves, trash bags, tools and insect spray are provided. Volunteers may prefer to bring their own gloves and should bring their own water. Eye protection (sunglasses are fine), bug spray, long pants and closed-toe shoes are recommended. For more information call (210) 207-3292 or e-mail Wendy.Leonard@sanantonio.gov.
