Geological History: Classroom Concepts & Trail-Side Formations

*(Only Seasonal Walk on the East Side) Randy Kilian-Smith will explain the park's geology and limestone in the Outdoor Classroom and then  lead a hike with further explanations including fluvial geology.

Please meet by 8:00 a.m. to sign up for an 8:15am sharp start at the outdoor classroom in Phil Hardberger Park East (13203 Blanco Rd.)

There will be stops along the trail where certain geological features will be explained with ample time for participant questions. Minors can participate only when accompanied by an adult parent/guardian. Difficulty: Easy, definitely suitable for families. Flat terrain, slow-paced. The walk is two to three miles and will end back at the classroom around 11 a.m.

The trail is a partly a natural surface so be sure to wear sturdy shoes, bring water, sun protection, and dress appropriately for the day. Suggested, not required, $3 individual or $5 family donations to the PHP Conservancy to support the park.

Contact Wendy Drezek at or 493-0939 if you require further information.
