Nature Walk: Butterfly Meadow & Wildflower Savanna Walk
Observe butterflies, wildflowers and their interactions on this walk through the Butterfly Meadow and wildflower savanna. Presenter Joanne Wells, aka "The Butterfly Lady," shares samples of butterflies, larvae, and all things butterfly prior to the walk. Always an enchanting presenter!
Nature Walks are jointly sponsored by the Phil Hardberger Park Conservancy, the Alamo Area Master Naturalists, and the Sierra Club.
The walks follow the same trails through the park each month, but change the focus of the walk. Walkers learn from experts and see the changing beauty of the natural area through the seasons. Minors are welcomed when accompanied by an adult parent or guardian. Dogs are allowed if leashed and socialized. The trail is flat, with a natural surface. These 1.5 mile walks are slow-paced and suitable for families. Each lasts about two hours, ending back at the PHP UEC around 10:15 a.m.
Walkers are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes, to bring water and sun protection, and to dress appropriately for the weather.
Registration is not required. A donation to the Phil Hardberger Park Conservancy of $3 per individual or $5 per family is suggested.
