Dinosaur George

Program starts at 9:15 am. George Blasing is a self taught paleontologist and animal behaviorist who speaks to all ages about dinosaurs. His enthusiasm for dinosaurs has taken him all over the U.S. and Texas with speaking engagements, study and research for over 35 years. Great event for the whole family.
Native Plant Hike

Join author and botanist Paul Cox for an interpretive hike along the 1.5 miles of trails at Hardberger Park. Learn how to identify native trees and plants. The hike begins approximately at 9:15 am. Kid friendly activity included.
Butterfly Beat

Monika Maeckle, Texas Butterfly Ranch blogger, will talk about how to bring back the monarchs and other butterflies to Texas and our local area. Learn what plants attract butterflies. Kid friendly activity included.
Fall Gardening

Join Charles Bartlett, landscape design professional and San Antonio Master Gardener as he discusses fall gardening preparation. He will discuss planting of trees, shrubs, and perennials, vegetable gardening and composting. Kid friendly activity included.
Going Green

Get information about water conserving plants from SAWS for your landscape, the CPS-Energy Tree Rebate program and energy efficient means for your home and business. See home composting demonstrations from the Master Gardeners and recycling information from Solid Waste Management Department. Learn from Build SA Green about energy efficient means to heat and coll your house and using green building materials. Kid friendly activity included.
Bicycle Safety

Join Park Police Officers in learning about how to do an annual maintenance inspection of your bicycle. Learn safety issues and trail courtesy and take a ride on the trails with Park Police. In addition, bicycle safety and trail information provided by the San Antonio Office of Environmental Policy and the San Antonio Bexar County Metropolitan Planning Organization. Tails on Trails

March 5 – 9-11 a.m.
Search and Rescue dogs in action, take a walk with the San Antonio Big Dawgs, adopt a dog from Animal Care Services or show off your dog in their latest spring outfit in the Pooch Parade at 10:30am.

Voelcker Book Celebration

Date: Nov. 16, 2010
Time: 5 p.m.–7 p.m.
There will be a celebration for the publication of the book Last Farm Standing on Buttermilk Hill, written by Gayle Spencer about the Voelckers. The event will take place at The Twig at the Pearl Brewery from 5 to 7 pm on Tuesday, November 16th. A trio has been booked to play the music Max & Minnie would hear at country dance halls.
The price of the book is $24.95. A portion of the book sales will go to the Conservancy.
Organic Pesticides

Feb. 05 – 9-11 a.m.
Molly Keck, Bexar County Agri-Life Extension Service Entomologist, will discuss ways and means to use organic pesticides and integrated pest management in your landscape and garden. Children will plant seeds in a small “Watch it Grow” seed pot to take home.
